2007-2008 Kindergarten Class; Mrs. Hook

Fourth Quarter

The school year has flown by. It will be hard to say goodbye to such a great group of kindergarteners. It has been a pleasure to see how much each child has grown physically, academically and spiritually. This class has been a blessing to me as well as to each other.

In Bible, we have spent a lot of time looking at the life of Paul and other missionaries. We learned about their faithfulness and the ways God was able to use them because of their love for Him. We also spent a great deal of time discussing ways that God can use us when we trust in Him.

The hard work and effort that the kindergarteners put into reading this quarter was amazing. It is a blessing to have a classroom full of children who are eager and excited to learn.

In Math we began to learn to add and subtract. We also spent a lot of time exploring numbers greater than 20. I am impressed with how quickly the kindergarteners understood the new math concepts being taught.

In Science, we looked at habitats, plants and animals. We discovered how God gave animals many different forms of protection. We learned the parts of a plant and what they need to grow. We enjoyed a terrific field trip to the Morton Arboretum. What a wonderful way to experience God's Beautiful creation.

Third Quarter

We have had a very busy quarter in Kindergarten. It is such a blessing to have a classroom of smiling children who are enthusiastic and eager to learn.

We have had an amazing experience in our Bible lessons this quarter. We have learned of God’s love for us and that we have eternal life through Jesus Christ. We learned how loving and kind Jesus was and the miracles he performed. We also learned that Jesus died for our sins and that we can open our hearts to him.

In Math, we practiced telling time, counting money and measuring length and capacity.

Our Science unit on penguins was very exciting. Our penguin research projects answered the questions we wanted to know about penguins. We also had a lot of fun working with bubbles and magnets.

The most exciting part of this quarter has been each child's success in reading. It has been very exciting to see their progress each day.

We are looking forward to all the new things we will be learning next quarter!

Second Quarter

It is hard to believe the year is half over. We have had a fantastic second quarter.

In Bible, we studied the birth of Christ and are now learning about His early ministry, His disciples and the miracles He performed.

In math and science, we have reflected on the uniqueness of each person and their role in God's plan.

Our geometry unit showed us how man's creativity, given by God, uses shapes throughout the world.

Our weather unit focused on winter and the individuality of snowflakes.

We have also learned about leaders of our country and the importance of God's plan for our lives and that of our families in social studies.

The Christmas around the world projects were nicely done. The kindergarteners we able to learn how other children celebrate the birth of Christ.

We have worked especially hard to become early readers. It is exciting to work with enthusiastic learners.

I am very proud of the work we have done this quarter and look forward to an equally successful third quarter.

First Quarter

The Kindergarteners have had a terrific first quarter. Our bible lessons in Genesis have taught us about the importance of family and following God's Word. In Math, we are looking at patterns and order as they relate to God's creations. In both Social Studies and Science we have learned about the earth and how wonderful God's world is. We have learned the sounds of the alphabet and are beginning to read.

Our field trip to the Zoo was a great experience. The animal reports made by your children were amazing. Your children are truly a blessing and I look forward to an equally exciting second quarter.
