This quarter's newsletter was written by the third grade class.
Science: Science was so much fun this year! The best thing that happened in science was that we went to the Morton Arboretum to explore the pond community that we had been learning about. We saw the biggest tadpole we had ever seen! This year we also studied vertebrates and did research projects on them. We had a lot of fun making our posters, we each got to pick any vertebrate and research it. We learned a lot! We did a lot of fun experiments too. We learned why the ocean is so salty, but had to drink salt water. YUCK!

Bible: In bible we had a blast! We made our own comics, some are very silly, some are serious. One silly title was Extreme Comic: Bible Edition!, a serious title was simply The Story of Naaman's Leprosy. We also did a play about the life of Elijah, this was a lot of fun and we learned a lot about him. We learned memory verses and discussed what they meant with our families. Bible is one of our favorite subjects!

Social Studies: This year in social studies we started a recycling committee for the whole school. We have really helped protect God's creation. We have learned about the telegraph (Drew even brought one in that works), our family histories, how people came to the U.S. and how to be good citizens. We learned a lot and had fun too!

Math: Math is a really fun subject! Flashcards were really fun to make and they helped us learn our facts a lot. We also made pictographs by taking a class survey. We all thought multiplication was going to be really hard, but it wasn't. We even got to play multiplication bingo!

Reading & Writing: You may usually think reading and writing is no fun, but this year it was our favorite subject ever! We play a game called Blurt every morning. There's a definition on the board and we have to guess what the word is. It is so much fun! We have been learning to write essays too. We even learned to write in cursive, it is much neater than our print is. Our class really likes writing in cursive, it is cool. We've also made white books and have earned a lot of points for AR. Reading is actually fun!
